His Story

He was bred by Donald Hartzell, and after Mr. Hartzell's death, sold, eventually being part of a herd of BLUE STAR/Blue List Arabians seized by the Humane Society. He had suffered several years of extreme malnutrition and neglect. Afterward, he was sold at auction, with the rest of the seized herd. Circumstances dictated he was unable to stay at his new home, and he went back to the kind home that had rehabilitated him. He stayed with them a short while, until fate, through an association of friends, brought us together. At 11 years old, he was going well under saddle, and really enjoyed the trail. He was an extremely intelligent and kind, and very willing. Wonderful and easy to work with and around, a real gentleman.

His Bloodlines and History

* He is Al Khamsa, 'Asil' (Pure)
The Al Khamsa organization defines eligibility as: "those horses in North America which can be reasonably assumed to descend entirely from Bedouin Arabian horses bred by the nomadic horse-breeding tribes of the deserts of the Arabian peninsula ..." (Al Khamsa Arabians Directory 1996 page 4). While QADIFAN is descended primarily from horses imported to the United States directly from The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he also traces in several lines to the Babson import *FADL and the exceptional and influential Egyptian sire SIRECHO. (Many of the Egyptian ancestors can't be traced further than the early studs in Egypt such as those of Abbas Pasha and Ali Pasha Sherif. Their reputation vouched for the origin of their foundation stock and the Arabian horses bred by them, which is why the words "can be reasonably assumed" are used.)

* He is BLUE STAR, meaning he has no Mu'niqi blood.

* He is a Pure-in-the-Strain Abayyan, bred following Bedouin traditions

* His Sire, ZAIRAFAN, is 100% Sa'ud Desert Bred. He is only the second generation off the Nejd, the imports include *JALAM AL UBAYAN, *SINDIDAH, *TAAMRI, *RUDANN, *MUNIFEH, *MUNIFAN and *MUHAIRA

* His Dam, SAFI QADIFA, is Desert Bred and Egyptian, tail-femail *TURFA. Within four generations, she has 6 lines, 37.5%, to (*FADL X *TURFA) and 6 lines, 37.5%, to SIRECHO., with the other 25% being 3 lines to the Sa'ud Desert blood of *MUNIFEH, *MUHAIRA and 'the Bloody Shouldered Mare', *AL HAMDANIAH.
