Each of the individuals listed to the right is a real horse – their strengths, weaknesses, attitudes and training are, for the most part, correctly reflected in their descriptions. All the horses listed are purebred Arabian horses, but more than that, they belong to a breeding group known as BLUE STARs. Many of these horses are as close as second or third generation from actual Bedouin war-mares who were ridden in raids in the Nejd as late as the 1960s. Legend records the Bedouin horse being selectively bred for over two thousand years as a war-horse and a companion to man. Those that couldn’t tolerate the harsh desert conditions, the raids and battle, or who weren’t companionable with their people didn’t survive to reproduce.
The breeders of the extraordinary horses listed greatly value those qualities and strive to maintain and reproduce the duality of fierce boldness and confidence combined with a true nobility and gentle spirit, and a compelling desire to bond with an individual rider.
The owners of these horses are proud to have them available here as Mearas simply because they love sharing the enjoyment of their horses. Feel free to use any of these horses in your stories, or to creatively combine them into a horse, pony or Meara that suits your purpose.
Credit is appreciated but not required in the form of a comment or link – (please list the horse’s real name, or thank the owner or farm, or link back to this page, or the farm or horse’s home page).
